Michal Markowski’s book Kiwka is shortlisted for Gdynia Award
Professor and Head Michał Paweł Markowski's most recent collection of essays Kiwka [The Dribble], which premiered at the Conrad Festival this past October, has been shortlisted (with 4 other titles) for "Nagroda Gdynia" [The Gdynia Award] for the best essayistic book in Poland in 2016.
This is, after the NIKE Award, the second most prestigious literary award in Poland and the only one with a separate "essay" category (the others are "Prose", "Poetry", and "Translation"). The award is 50,000 ZLP (circa $13,000) in each category and the gala will take place in Gdynia, September, 10th.
Professor Markowski serves as the Stefan and Lucy Hejna Family Chair in Polish Language and Literature.
