The University of Illinois at Chicago and the Consulate General of Lithuania in Chicago proudly celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Endowed Chair in Lithuanian Studies

In 1984, the Lithuanian community came together to create the Endowed Chair in Lithuanian Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the first externally funded chair at UIC.

This event will be an opportunity to celebrate the endowment and to thank the Lithuanian community and individual contributors to the endowment for their support and partnership.
In honor of the anniversary, Dr. Leonidas Donskis will present a lecture entitled “A Truly European Story: Lithuania in the Twenty-First-Century World.” Dr. Donskis is a Member of the European Parliament (2009-2014) and has written and edited over thirty books combining political theory, history of ideas, philosophy of culture, and philosophy of literature. In 2004, the European Commission awarded him the title of Ambassador for Tolerance and Diversity in Lithuania.
