New Undergraduate Scholarships in Polish Studies!
Dr. Bolesław and Krystyna Mazur Scholarships
The UIC Department of Slavic and Baltic Languages and Literatures is pleased to announce the creation of the Dr. Bolesław and Krystyna Mazur Scholarships in Undergraduate Polish Studies.
Thanks to the generous donation made by Mrs. Krystyna Mazur, four scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded annually to students who have elected to major or minor in Polish Studies, and who demonstrate both academic merit and financial need.
The application deadline for the 2018-2019 Academic Year is April 9, 2018.

Candidates shall be students who are interested in the study of Poland and its language, history, culture, literature and art, and who have declared a major, double-major or minor in Polish in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Priority will be given to applications from students who have elected the Polish Major. Students enrolled in the Polish Minor are also encouraged to apply, and their applications will be given consideration.
Candidates shall demonstrate both academic merit and financial need, and hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of application. Recipients may apply for renewal of the award every year and will be included in the pool of applicants as long as they demonstrate academic merit and have financial need. Candidates must have formally declared the Polish Major or Minor before submitting an award application.

The Scholarship award is in the amount of $1,000, applicable towards tuition costs. This annual award will be granted to up to four (4) UIC undergraduate students.

- Applicant Information (name, UIN, major/minor)
- Statement of Financial Need, including your Current Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)
- Personal Statement of 300-500 words: please describe for us your academic and professional goals and interests.
- Copy of current academic transcript.
- One letter of recommendation, to be emailed by an academic instructor directly to szawara@uic.edu.
